Hotel and resort grounds robot: lawns mown without disturbing guests

The robot mows the hotel lawns at hours when guests are not in the garden, and can clear the paths in winter. Gardeners keep the planting, pruning and presentation of the grounds.

An Ambrogio 4.50 PRO robotic mower cuts a hotel lawn at sunrise, with the loungers by the pool still empty.

IN BRIEF

Updated

  1. A hotel grounds robot autonomously mows lawns, pool surroundings and resort parkland, at times chosen so that guests are not disturbed.

  2. The Ambrogio 4.50 PRO covers up to 80,000 m² guided by GPS-RTK, with a noise level of 69 dB(A), according to its manufacturer.

  3. Robot Distribution delivers it, sets the zones and hours with your team, trains them and provides maintenance, to buy, rent or as RaaS.

WHY

Hotel and resort grounds robots

At a hotel, resort or estate, the garden is part of the guest experience. Noisy mowing with a ride-on or strimmer clashes with late risers, lunches on the terrace and afternoons by the pool, and has to fit into short time slots.

The robot mows often and without petrol-engine noise, at hours the property chooses. Gardeners concentrate on planting, beds and the finishing guests notice; on some models, a snow module takes over in winter.

HOW IT RUNS

How the robot maintains the property's grounds.

  1. Mapping the grounds

We draw the lawns, no-go zones (terraces, pool surroundings, beds) and passages between zones in the app, with no buried wire. The Navimow Terranox CM120M1 detects obstacles with 360° vision, according to its manufacturer.

  2. Guest-free hours

Mowing is scheduled early in the morning or at quiet times; night mowing is confirmed at the survey depending on the model, lighting and site rules. The Yarbo Y40P Core with mowing module is quoted at under 60 dB, according to its manufacturer.

  3. Autonomous mowing

The robot mows in stripes, steers around obstacles and furniture and returns to its station on its own. The Ambrogio 4.50 PRO works about 11 hours per charge, according to its manufacturer.

  4. Winter and care

With the snow blower module, the Yarbo Y40P Core clears a 61 cm strip on paths and entrances, according to its manufacturer. All year round, the team cleans the cutting decks and checks the blades.

BEFORE INSTALLING

What the site survey checks before installation.

  1. Areas and zoning

Lawns, parkland and surroundings are measured and split into zones: the Navimow Terranox CM120M1 is recommended up to 12,000 m², the Ambrogio 4.50 PRO up to 80,000 m², according to their manufacturers.

  2. Slopes and terraces

Banks, terraced gardens and sloping lawns are recorded: the tracked Yarbo Y40P Core climbs up to 35° (70%) and the Terranox CM120M1 up to 40° (84%), according to their manufacturers.

  3. Guests and safety

Mowing hours, areas used by children, pool surroundings, outdoor events and signage are agreed with management.

  4. Signal, network and stations

Satellite reception under trees, network coverage and discreet charging-station locations, out of guests' sight, are checked.

RULES AND STANDARDS

Rules for robot mowing on hotel and resort grounds

Mowing grounds open to guests falls under a product standard, the noise rules for professional activities and the new Machinery Regulation.

  1. The product standard for robotic mowers

NF EN 50636-2-107 sets the particular safety requirements for battery-powered robotic electric lawnmowers with a vertical-axis blade and their peripherals. It is used together with EN 60335-1 and relates to the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. It is written for household and similar appliances, so for a professional machine ask whether the EU declaration of conformity cites it, or which standard the manufacturer applied instead.

  2. Neighbourhood noise: a hotel is a professional activity

Mowing by a hotel falls under the Code de la santé publique rules for professional activities (articles R1336-6 to R1336-9). The noise emergence heard by neighbours must not exceed 5 dB(A) between 7 am and 10 pm and 3 dB(A) at night, corrected for duration. Prefectoral and municipal orders can also restrict horticultural work hours, so check the local order before scheduling early or night mowing.

  3. Machinery Regulation from 20 January 2027

Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 applies from 20 January 2027 and covers autonomous mobile machines, robots included. It requires the hardware that carries signals or data needed for compliance to be protected against accidental or intentional corruption, a point for robots steered by an app and satellite corrections. Ask for the EU declaration of conformity and French instructions; a free paper copy is due if requested at purchase.

FAQ

Hotel managers' and technical managers' questions about robotic grounds maintenance.

Will the robot disturb guests?

It mows at the hours you choose, on electric power. According to the manufacturer, the Ambrogio 4.50 PRO emits 69 dB(A) and the Yarbo Y40P Core with mowing module under 60 dB.

Can it mow at night?

On some sites, depending on the model, lighting and the property's rules. The site survey checks these conditions before night mowing is scheduled.

How large a garden can the robot maintain?

According to the manufacturer: about 0.3 acre (1,200 m²) per charge and 2 acres (8,000 m²) per day for the Yarbo Y40P Core, up to 12,000 m² for the Navimow Terranox CM120M1, 12,000 m² per charge for the FJD RM21 and 80,000 m² for the Ambrogio 4.50 PRO.

Can the same robot clear snow from the paths?

Yes for the Yarbo Y40P Core, which takes a snow blower module: 61 cm strip, snow up to 30 cm deep, operation down to −25 °C, according to its manufacturer. It takes either the mowing or the snow module.

Do we need to bury a wire around the lawns?

No. The robots on this page position themselves by RTK, combined with vision on the Navimow Terranox CM120M1 and the Yarbo, and LiDAR on the FJD RM21, according to their manufacturers.
