OVERVIEW
The Ascento Guard in detail
Built around two self-balancing wheels, Ascento Guard is an autonomous robot for night patrols and perimeter checks outdoors. According to the manufacturer, the second generation, introduced in November 2024, patrols for up to 8 h per shift and carries thermal, RGB and infrared cameras whose AI detection flags intruders, open gates, fence damage and overheating equipment. It is designed for rain, snow and wind, drives both on and off road and rights itself after a fall.
It suits industrial campuses, parking lots, rail depots and long fenced perimeters patrolled every night. Alerts are handled in the Ascento web app or passed to an existing video management or facility management system, so first settle how events reach your control room and who responds. Then walk the route: surface, kerbs, gates and network coverage decide whether rounds can run unattended.
Compared with the Enova PGuard in this range, Ascento Guard is the nimbler two-wheeled option for frequent detection rounds on mixed terrain, and its maker supplies it as a service rather than as equipment to own; the four-wheel-drive PGuard, with its long-range zoom turret, makes more sense where distant observation is the priority. Ascento was founded in 2018 in Zurich as an ETH Zurich project, according to the company. Robot Distribution can organise a demonstration on your own patrol route before any commitment.
