Store night patrol robot: malls, stockrooms and car parks watched after closing time

After closing, the robot covers the aisles, malls and car park on scheduled rounds and reports any anomaly to the security office. Guards keep alarm verification and response.

A Gosuncn M2 security robot patrols the closed mall of a shopping centre at night, with shop shutters down.

IN BRIEF

Updated

  1. A night patrol robot covers a shopping centre, hypermarket or its car park on its own after closing, films in visible light and thermal, and sends its alerts to the security office.

  2. The indoor Gosuncn M2 patrols for 8 h or 17 km per charge with a 25× zoom camera and a 256 × 192 thermal camera, and recharges wirelessly from 10 to 80% in 2 h, according to its manufacturer.

  3. Robot Distribution delivers it, programmes the rounds, sets up alert routing to your security office, trains your guards and maintains it, to buy, rent or as RaaS.

WHY

Robotic night patrols in stores and shopping centres

At night, a shopping centre or hypermarket is still a large building to watch: malls, aisles, stockrooms, docks, emergency exits and car parks. Foot patrols are long and repetitive, and one guard cannot be everywhere at once.

The robot handles the regular passes and detection, at fixed or varied times, and sends images and alerts to the security office. Guards remain in charge of verification, calling emergency services and responding.

HOW IT RUNS

How the night patrol runs with the robot.

  1. Planning the rounds

At commissioning the robot maps the malls, aisles and car park. With the security manager we set routes, stop points (emergency exits, stockrooms, checkouts) and no-go zones.

  2. Patrolling after closing

The robot follows its rounds at fixed or varied times. The Gosuncn M2 detects intrusions and fire outbreaks with its thermal camera, according to its manufacturer.

  3. Alert and verification

When something is wrong, the robot sends images and its position to the security office. The guard checks remotely, can speak through the Robotnik RB-WATCHER's speaker and decides whether to respond.

  4. Charging and report

The robot returns to its station between rounds; the Gosuncn M2 and F2 recharge wirelessly with no intervention, according to their manufacturer. In the morning the team reviews the log of passes and alerts.

The Gosuncn M2 robot stops at an emergency exit in a hypermarket stockroom during its night round.
In the stockroom, the robot checks the emergency exits.
The Gosuncn F2 robot patrols the outdoor car park of a hypermarket at night, between the street lamps.
Outside, an outdoor robot takes over in the car park.

BEFORE INSTALLING

What the site survey checks before installation.

  1. Floors, ramps and thresholds

The Gosuncn M2 crosses 20 mm obstacles and 5° slopes, according to its manufacturer: we note thresholds, ramps to stockrooms and escalators to keep off the route.

  2. Car park and outdoor areas

A car park or forecourt needs an outdoor model: the Gosuncn F2 is rated IPX5, climbs 15° and covers 8 h or 28 km per charge, according to its manufacturer.

  3. Network and security office

4G, 5G or Wi-Fi coverage along the whole route, alerts reaching the security office or remote monitoring centre: transmission is tested before go-live.

  4. Images and privacy

Recorded images are personal data under the GDPR. Facial recognition processes biometric data, which is strictly regulated: whether to enable it is decided with your DPO.

FAQ

Retail security managers' questions about robotic patrols.

Does the robot replace the security guard?

No. It handles the repetitive passes and detection; verification, calling emergency services and response stay with guards, on site or in remote monitoring.

How long does the robot patrol per night?

According to the manufacturers: 8 h or 17 km for the Gosuncn M2, 8 h or 28 km for the Gosuncn F2, and up to 5 h for the Robotnik RB-WATCHER, which returns to its charging station on its own. Charging fits between rounds.

Can it watch the outdoor car park?

Yes, with an outdoor model: the IPX5-rated Gosuncn F2 recognises licence plates, and the IP54-rated Robotnik RB-WATCHER patrols indoors and outdoors at up to 2.5 m/s, according to their manufacturers. The IPX3-rated Gosuncn M2 stays indoors.

Does the robot detect a fire outbreak?

The Gosuncn M2 uses its 256 × 192 thermal camera to spot a fire outbreak, according to its manufacturer. It complements the building's fire safety system without replacing it.

Can we use facial recognition?

The Gosuncn M2 and F2 offer it according to their manufacturer, but in the European Union facial recognition processes biometric data that the GDPR strictly regulates. Whether to enable it is decided with your DPO and legal adviser.
