IN BRIEF
Updated · Source: manufacturer's published specifications
The Universal Robots UR8 Long is a collaborative robot by Universal Robots. Key figures published by the manufacturer: payload 8 kg, reach 1,750 mm and axes 6. It also lists degrees of freedom: 6. Robot Distribution supplies it in Europe to buy, rent or as RaaS, with its EU declaration of conformity. Price on request.
OVERVIEW
The UR8 Long belongs to the newer UR Series and trades payload for reach: 8 kg, or 10 kg extended, at the end of a 1750 mm arm. According to the manufacturer, it weighs 44.7 kg, repeats to ±0.08 mm and moves its tool at up to 5 m/s. The IP65 arm is certified for ISO 14644-1 Class 4 cleanrooms and to UL 1740, in addition to EN ISO 13849-1 PLd Cat. 3.
Its reach suits welding long seams, dispensing on large parts, palletizing tall stacks of light cases and gantry-style handling. The trade-off is precision: ±0.08 mm is fine for welding and handling, but should be checked against fine assembly tolerances. Confirm that the supply covers the 615 W peak draw and that the base or pedestal can take the leverage of a long arm moving fast.
Robot Distribution can source the UR8 Long on request and coordinate a welding or handling cell with a specialised integrator.
