OVERVIEW
The STEP SA12/1490H Welding Robot in detail
Designed around arc welding, the STEP SA12/1490H is a six-axis robot whose hollow wrist carries the torch cable inside the arm. According to the manufacturer, it handles 12 kg and reaches 1,490 mm. STEP, a Shanghai company founded in 1995, builds industrial robots from 1 to 600 kg along with robot controllers and vision systems.
Its natural place is the welding cell in metal fabrication: frames, brackets, racks and welded assemblies. Routing the torch cable through the wrist keeps it from snagging on fixtures and makes cable wear more predictable when the torch rotates around a joint. Before choosing it, check compatibility with your welding power source and torch, whether parts need a positioner to reach every seam, the repeatability of your clamping fixtures, fume extraction, and the training of the welder who will program it.
It is the only welding-dedicated arm in this group: the EFORT models and the MOKA MB50-2050 are handling, painting or general-purpose robots. Pick it for seam welding of small and medium assemblies; for loading heavy parts into the weld cell, pair it with a handling arm. Robot Distribution can deliver it as part of a complete welding cell built with a partner integrator, including set-up of the first welding programs.
