OVERVIEW

The CYBERDYNE Medical HAL Lower Limb Type HAL-ML07 in detail

HAL-ML07 is the small-size version of CYBERDYNE's Medical HAL Lower Limb Type, a wearable exoskeleton that its manufacturer intends for gait treatment, driven by the wearer's bioelectrical signals to assist the hips and knees. According to the manufacturer, it fits wearers 100–150 cm tall weighing 15–50 kg, weighs about 9.5 kg with both legs or 6.5 kg in the single-leg configuration, delivers up to 20 Nm of assistive torque and runs about 1 hour per battery.

It suits paediatric rehabilitation centres and hospital gait therapy units working with children and small adults, and it is used under medical supervision. The manufacturer lists hip motion from 20° extension to 120° flexion, knee motion from 5° extension to 120° flexion, and an overall size of 930 × 400 × 400 mm. Before acquiring it, compare your patient population with these size ranges and check indications and staff training against the manufacturer's instructions for use. It is CE marked as an EU MDR Class IIa device and, according to CYBERDYNE, holds US FDA 510(k) clearance.

Next to the adult HAL-ML08, the ML07 serves smaller bodies with a lighter frame and, according to the manufacturer, half the maximum torque (20 Nm against 40 Nm); a centre treating both children and adults may need both sizes. Robot Distribution works with the clinical team on installation and user training before the first session.
