OVERVIEW
The Kinova Link 6 in detail
The Link 6 is Kinova’s six-axis industrial cobot, designed and built in Canada by a company long associated with research arms. According to the manufacturer, it carries 6 kg continuously over a 1149 mm reach, repeats within 0.1 mm and moves its tool at up to 2 m/s, with every joint turning ±360°. The arm weighs 23.45 kg including its 5 m cable, and both arm and controller are rated IP54.
It targets machine tending, packaging, pick-and-place and assembly. A long reach for a 6 kg class arm helps when one robot must serve a machine door and a parts tray set some distance apart. Safety functions meet ISO 13849-1 PLd Cat. 3. Before choosing, compare the 0.1 mm repeatability with your tolerances, and note that Kinova rates the payload at 200 mm from the wrist, so check heavier or offset tools.
Robot Distribution can source the Link 6 on request and coordinate commissioning with a partner integrator.
