OVERVIEW

The Boston Dynamics Spot in detail

Spot is the four-legged inspection robot from Boston Dynamics, used to carry cameras and sensors through plants and sites that wheeled platforms cannot cross. According to the manufacturer, it weighs 33.8 kg, walks at up to 1.6 m/s, climbs 30° slopes and 300 mm steps, and carries 14 kg of payload on its rails. Its terrain sensing covers 360° with a 4 m range, and the IP54 body operates from -20 to 55 °C.

Typical missions are routine rounds in energy and utility sites, process plants and construction projects: thermal readings, gauge checks, laser scans or acoustic leak detection. Runtime is 90 min on a 564 Wh battery, so plan dock positions or battery changes along the route. Check also Wi-Fi coverage along the path, the power available to payloads (150 W per port) and whether your inspection software can use its API.

Robot Distribution does not hold Spot in stock but can source it on request, and help you define the payload set and the inspection route before ordering.
